No. Any set of screen protectors you buy will only work with one version of the console: The standard Nintendo Switch, the Nintendo Switch OLED, or the Nintendo Switch Lite.

This is because each of the Switch's three versions has a different size screen. The standard Switch's screen is 6.2 inches, the Switch OLED's screen is seven inches, and the Switch Lite's screen is 5.5 inches.

Before you buy screen protectors, make sure that they're designed to fit the Switch model you own.

In general, there are two types of screen protectors available for the Switch: Protectors made of tempered glass, and protectors made of plastic.

Glass protectors are typically rigid plates that fit over your Switch's screen and stick onto the surface with adhesive. Despite their sturdy construction, they're still lightweight and thin. Most are also fingerprint-resistant and hard enough to withstand scratches even from a knife.

The biggest risk with glass protectors is that if your Switch is hit with enough force — for example, if you drop it from a great height — the glass can shatter, which is dangerous. Certain kinds of sand can also create jagged scratches that might hurt to run your finger over.

Plastic protectors are thin layers of film that you stick onto your Switch's screen, also with adhesive. They're not as strong as glass, but still enough to protect your Switch from fingerprints and most scratches.

The biggest risk with plastic protectors is that if you put them on incorrectly, you can trap bubbles between the screen and plastic, which looks pretty ugly.

In general, we'd recommend sticking with glass protectors. They're not any more expensive, offer a higher level of protection, and are easier to install.

Most tempered glass screen protectors advertise a hardness rating of "9H." Contrary to popular belief, this doesn't refer to the Mohs hardness scale. Rather, this means that a 9H pencil — which use the hardest type of graphite you can have in a pencil — won't scratch the screen under normal conditions.

A 9H screen protector will give your Switch's screen an incredible amount of protection. But it won't make the screen invulnerable — scratching the protector with enough force might still leave a mark.
